Perth would have exceeded all expectations in a bright start to their time in the WAFLW.

The Demons not only avoided the wooden spoon in their debut season but tallied three wins which is a fantastic achievement for an expansion team.

Their historic first ever win came against South Fremantle back in Round 11, with the 12-point result coming after a few close calls including a five-point loss to West Perth in Round 8.

Club legend?Rob Wiley took the reins as head coach in late June after Jessica Sedunary returned to Adelaide to prepare for the arrival of her first child.

Sedunary led the Demons to their maiden victory before she left in a fitting reward for her efforts.

Former St Kilda player Isabella Shannon was outstanding all season, averaging 26.2 disposals and didn’t go under 20 possessions after Round 3.

Holly Britton and Jasmine Single were also reliable contributors, Taya Strickland kicked a team-high 14 goals and 17-year-old Mia Carlshausen showed she was a serious talent bound for higher honour.

The building blocks are in place for the Demons to next another positive step in their second season in the competition in 2026.

Shannon became Perth’s first WAFLW fairest-and-best winner after an impressive season.
