The 2023 WAFL Grand Final will be staged at Perth’s home of football Optus Stadium on Sunday September 24.
This will be a day out for the whole family to remember with the WA Football Commission staging a Festival of Footy at the southern end of Optus Stadium prior to the League Grand Final.
Fans can look forward to a range of engaging activities and entertainment options for the kids, plus there will be food trucks serving a range of delicious options.
WAFC CEO, Michael Roberts said this year’s grand final will be like no other.
“There will be so much going on outside and inside Optus Stadium to keep the whole family entertained,” Roberts said.
“I encourage fans to get to Optus Stadium early to take advantage of the Festival of Footy which will provide a carnival atmosphere, before taking your seat inside the stadium to watch some of the state’s best players in action.
“This is one of the closest seasons we’ve seen in recent history with just one game separating first and fifth place on the ladder, this year’s grand final is set to be blockbuster.”
After an unforgettable Grand Final at Leederville Oval last year, which drew an incredible 17,000 passionate fans, the WAFL is gearing up for an even more spectacular event at the world-class Optus Stadium.
This is the biggest day on the WAFL calendar and provides the players and fans the chance to experience WAFL at a world class venue.
The last time the WAFL Grand Final was played at Optus Stadium was in 2021, nearly 30,000 roaring fans attended the game, and this year, the WAFC is aiming to surpass that attendance record and create an electric atmosphere like never before.
"Last year's Grand Final was an incredible success at Leederville due to the unavailability of Optus Stadium,” Roberts said.
“However, we are overjoyed to have the chance to bring the action back to this state-of-the-art venue, providing an unforgettable experience for our players and fans.
Beyond the excitement within the stadium, the WAFL Grand Final Premiers' Parade will serve as a fantastic opportunity for junior clubs to become more engaged and celebrate the essence of grassroots football.
Premiership-winning junior football clubs will take part in the grand final parade at Optus Stadium.
