CLAREMONT took a big step towards securing a top two WAFLW finish with a thrilling win over Subiaco in Round 15 action while Swan Districts also went a long way to securing a finals berth with a win against West Perth.

It was always going to be a defining second last round of the home and away season on a number of fronts in the WAFLW. In the end, Claremont regained second place from West Perth while Swan Districts remained a game and percentage clear in fourth with just one round left.

The penultimate round of the 2024 season got underway on Saturday afternoon with South Fremantle keeping its season alive with the 5.6 (36) to 4.1 (25) victory at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with Poppy Stockwell kicking three goals.

Next up on Saturday was Claremont holding out Subiaco despite a goalless second half to move back into second place with the 3.6 (24) to 3.3 (21) win at Sullivan Logistics Stadium with 25 possessions and seven tackles from Sarah Viney.

East Fremantle then made it 10 consecutive wins to remain two games and percentage clear on top of the ladder with the reigning premiers beating East Perth 15.11 (101) to 1.0 (6) at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with three goals each from Chloe Reilly, Sarah Wielstra and Grace Freeman.

The last game of the round took place on Saturday night at Pentanet Stadium and it was Swan Districts ending up beating West Perth 7.4 (46) to 3.7 (25) to remain a game and percentage clear in fourth place with two goals each from Sienna Gerardi and Taylah Edwards.
