THE last four WAFL premiership winners are among the six teams in action in the three games in Round 16 on Saturday with West Perth trying to hit back, Subiaco to stay alive and East Fremantle and South Fremantle to consolidate top five spots.
There are just the three games again in Round 16 of the WAFL season with Claremont, Peel Thunder, Swan Districts and West Coast having the bye with each encounter taking place on Saturday afternoon at 2.30pm.
East Perth has the chance to move clear in top spot by the end of the weekend with the Royals hosting Perth at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.
East Perth would move a game clear of both Peel Thunder and Swan Districts with what would be a third straight win but the Demons will also be looking for a fourth win of 2024 to get out of bottom spot.
The premiers of the last two years then do battle at Pentanet Stadium with West Perth playing host to East Fremantle.
The Falcons are in a tough run of form having lost their last seven matches to only be percentage out of bottom spot at 3-10 as they come up against a reigning premiers Sharks outfit building some momentum winning the last two to be 8-5 in fourth position.
West Perth midfielder Connor West knows that it's been a tough run of late for the Falcons, but is confident of a strong finish to the season.
"It's been pretty up and down this year, we started pretty well and now we've lost a few real close ones and that was obviously pretty disappointing," West said on 91.3 SportFM.
"Then the last month we probably have fallen away from the rest of the competition, which isn’t great, but I think there's still a lot to take away from this year and we've got a lot of the young boys playing.
"There's a lot of experience going into them and there are some positives, but obviously it's not the year that we've wanted so far and we're just looking to finish it off strongly now and hopefully come away with a few wins."
Both South Fremantle and Subiaco are then coming off the bye when they face off at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.
It's been an emotional week for the Bulldogs following the tragic death of colts player Nick Campo in a car accident and now they front up at home on Saturday against the Lions.
South Fremantle comes into the clash in fifth position at 7-5 having lost the last two while Subiaco is in seventh spot at 4-8 but a win would keep the Lions within touch of a finals spot.
