2024 Telstra AFL/W State Draft Combine Testing ResultsTuesday, October 15, 2024 - 12:45 PM
The top results from physical testing conducted at the 2024 Telstra AFL State Draft Combine and 2024 Telstra AFLW State Draft Combine have been confirmed.
The state Draft Combines followed the national Draft Combine for boys and girls which was hosted in Melbourne from October 4-6.
Physical testing across Sunday’s WA Draft Combine included a 2km time trial, standing vertical jump, running vertical jump, 20m sprint and agility test.
WA’s Hugh Boxshall finished in the top five across the 2km time trial, agility test, standing and running vertical jump.
“I had a couple of good tests in the agility and the sprints and the jumps,” Boxshall said.
Boxshall did miss six weeks during the season with a quad injury but bounced back to play in the WA U18s side and become a Colts premiership player with Claremont.
“Coming off an injury, I was pretty happy to even get the chance to go out there (and represent WA) because obviously I hadn’t had much footy in the lead-up to the South Australia game, so I was happy to play my footy and play the way that I did,” Boxhall said.
Boxshall has taken every opportunity given to him this year with the aim of getting picked in the AFL Draft.
“I think probably at the start of the season I wasn’t expecting to have as much opportunity as I have, so I’ve been really stoked with the amount of exposure I’ve had to all the footy,” Boxshall explained.
Perth’s Loch Mactaggart finished second in the running vertical jump and top five in the agility test and standing vertical jump.
East Perth’s Sabella Banks made her mark at the WA Combine, winning the standing vertical jump and she finished second in the 20m sprint with a time of 3.159 seconds and second in the agility test.
