The WA U18 Girls team will complete its Summer Program with a match against a WAFLW All-Stars side at Mineral Resources Park on Friday night.
The State team, coached by Beau McDonald, will feature Evie Cowcher and Olivia Wolmarans, who were selected in the 18’s All-Australian team as bottom agers last year.
The All-Stars team has been chosen with input from AFLW recruiters and includes nine players with AFLW experience.
The team, to be guided by Claremont WAFLW premiership winning coach Jack Schwarze, also includes Natasha Entwistle and Noa McNaughton.
Both players performed well in last year’s Marsh AFL National Championships but were overlooked in the AFLW draft in December.
The WA 18’s side has completed a strong training block that began in November and this game will be their final hit-out before they return to their WAFLW clubs.
Trent Cooper, Manager Female Talent Programs and Coaching Specialist at the
West Australian Football Commission, has declared the practice match is a great launching pad for the year ahead.
“It is an important game to work on connection and identify areas of improvement that can be worked on before the group comes back together for the National Championships in June,” Cooper said.
