The first week of the finals series was as thrilling as it gets, with both games ending in one-point wins.
The three best sides all year are the remaining three teams in the race for the flag.
Claremont 4.5 (29) v Subiaco 4.4 (28)
The two sides who couldn’t be split all season until their Round 18 match produced another thriller, this time in the finals.
Sunday’s Final at Revo Fitness Stadium came down to the final minute of the game in a frantic finish.
Subiaco led by a goal, but with just five second remaining, Emma Henderson got a free kick inside 50 for the Tigers and had a shot on goal.
The kick hit the post, but the out-of-zone umpire paid a free kick in the goal square for a hold to Claremont.
Megan Green went back from the top of the goal square and kicked a goal after the siren to draw level with the Lions and send the game into extra time.
Claremont kicked the only score of the first four-minute overtime period, a behind to take a one-point advantage.
Wildly, Subiaco had two snaps on goal from within 15m out and both sailed wide of the posts, neither troubling the scorers and Claremont held on to secure their place in the 2025 WAFLW Grand Final.
Swan Districts 2.4 (16) v East Fremantle 2.3 (15)
The second game of the weekend at Steel Blue Oval came down to the last minute as well, with Swan Districts completing the comeback victory with two final quarter goals.
Swan Districts, who have been the third best team for the entirety of the season, were only able to manage three behinds through the first three quarters of the game which put the Sharks in the box seat to advance into the Preliminary Final.
In the final term, however, the Black Ducks kicked 2.1 and held the Sharks scoreless, taking the lead through Ali Griffith at the 11 minute-mark.
The ball lived in Swan’s forward 50 for the final minute, with a Jemma Sly intercept mark halting the Sharks last real opportunity to move the ball forward.
The Sharks were eliminated and Swan Districts will now travel to Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Sunday to take on Subiaco for a chance at their third Grand Final, while Subiaco will vie for their second appearance on the big stage.
