Three more West Australians will test at the State draft combine in Perth on October 12 including a pair of WA under-18s representatives.
Swan Districts midfielder Blake Kelly and Perth defender Dale Sutherland both played for WA at the AFL National Under-18s Championship this year with Kelly part of the leadership group.
Leon Kickett, a 19-year-old small forward from Swan Districts, will also get the opportunity to impress AFL recruiters after an eye-catching EGT WAFL Colts season.
It takes the tally of WA talents testing at the State combine to nine with West Coast father-son prospect Charlie Banfield (Claremont), Cooper Ramsay (East Fremantle), Fremantle Next Generation Academy members Tom Phillips (East Fremantle), Ryda Luke, Toby Whan (South Fremantle) and Hudson Walker (Subiaco) also invited.
Six West Aussies - Cody Curtin (Claremont), Fred Rodriguez (South Fremantle), Koby Evans (Perth), Wes Walley (Subiaco), Tylah Williams (Swan Districts), Jacob Farrow and Sam Swadling (West Perth) – will also compete at the three-day AFL National Draft Combine in Melbourne from October 3-5.
“It’s a fantastic result to have three more West Australians getting the chance to compete at the State combine in October,” WA Football’s State Talent Manager Adam Jones said.
“All three have been playing some excellent colts football and both Blake Kelly and Dale Sutherland finished the national champs strongly.
“Leon was also on the radar of the WA talent program after a move to Perth this year from the South West helped his football go to another level.
“The door is still ajar for more WA players added to the State combine list on the back of strong form in the back end of the season and finals.”
