2025 WAFL season review : East FremantleMonday, October 20, 2025 - 12:17 PM

East Fremantle will reflect on a wasted season with a talented list after a year which began with so much promise.

The Sharks reached Round 7 in second position on the table with six wins and one loss but posted only five more victories for the year, three of those coming in the last three rounds of the home and away season.

They finished fourth with a record of 11 and seven.

East Fremantle was bundled out of the premiership race in the Elimination Final by Perth and face a long summer of planning for 2026.

It was a disappointing end to the year after moving into the club’s redeveloped facilities at The Good Grocer Park.

The Sharks campaign was unsettled after losing ruckman Lachlan Blakiston in the mid-season AFL Rookie Draft to Essendon.

Gun midfielder Milan Murdock again produced a standout season, averaging 27 disposals from 19 games and kicking nine goals.

Fellow senior players Tom Joyce, captain Kyle Baskerville and 200 game veteran Cam Eardley were all strong contributors in 2025.

The side’s youth also gained valuable experience with Kobe Austin, Luke Carello, Austin Ball, Jack Cleaver, Finn Gorringe and Zac Rankin among those who emerged to play more prominent roles.

In another good sign for the future, big forward Griffin Vladich developed into a forward threat kicking 13 goals for the year.

Jed Hagan and Cody Leggett both finished with 28 goals to lead the way for the Sharks, while Mitch Zadow displayed his potential with 18 for the season.

Murdock capped off a terrific year winning his third Lynn Medal, becoming one of just eight players to win the award three or more times.

A proud club with high expectations, East Fremantle will leave no stone unturned to improve their list and challenge for their 31st WAFL flag.
