The highly anticipated 2024 WAFL Finals Series begins this week, with tickets going on sale from 10am today for next month’s Grand Final at Optus Stadium.

Footy fans can purchase general admission tickets ahead of the premiership decider on Sunday, September 22.

As five teams prepare for a huge finals campaign over the next four weeks, the competitive nature of this year’s competition has contributed to a significant rise in the number of people attending matches in 2024.

For the second year in a row, average crowd attendance has increased, up 17 per cent this year, with an average of more than 1,850 people per match.

The biggest crowds for the season came at the WA Day Derbies, with 7,468 people watching South Fremantle play East Fremantle and 4,563 at Pentanet Stadium to witness West Perth host East Perth.

West Australian Football Commission CEO, Michael Roberts said the 2024 season will be one to remember.

“It’s fantastic to see such a significant rise in crowd numbers this season,” Roberts said.

“For the second season in a row, we’re seeing fans return in droves, which is a true testament to the quality and competitiveness of WAFL.”

The boost is due in part to the introduction of WAFL Wonderland.

Creating a festival atmosphere at selected matches throughout the year, Wonderland featured activities for kids, a DJ, food trucks, bars, and giveaways for families.

The WAFL Wonderland matches produced a 61 per cent spike in crowd numbers.

“WAFL Wonderland has been a game-changer, creating an incredible atmosphere that’s drawn families and fans alike back to the WAFL,” Roberts said.

“The spike in attendance at Wonderland matches shows just how much people have embraced the festival experience.”

WAFL Wonderland will return during the finals series and will be a major attraction at Optus Stadium on Grand Final Day.

“Fans can look forward to an electrifying Finals Series, with WAFL Wonderland set to be a major attraction at Optus Stadium on Grand Final Day, bringing the same energy and excitement that has made it such a hit throughout the season,” Roberts said. ?

Also returning to the 2024 WAFL Grand Final is the Sullivan Logistics Kick-to-Kick on Optus Stadium after the match.
