Entwistle, Dethlefsen the latest WAFLW products to earn AFLW debut

South Fremantle product Natasha Entwistle and former Perth player Fina Dethlefsen have become the sixth and seventh WAFLW exports to earn an AFLW debut across the opening two rounds of the season.

Entwistle will make her debut for West Coast against Gold Coast at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday, two months after getting picked up as an injury-replacement player.

“Tash is someone we’ve admired for a long time through her performances in the WAFLW,” West Coast coach Daisy Pearce said.

“She’s competitive, strong around the contest, works incredibly hard and gives us plenty of flexibility with the roles she can play.

“What has stood out most since she arrived is how seamlessly she’s slotted into the group.

“She is tough, positive and works hard as well as being a genuine team player. We’re delighted to see her earn her AFLW debut.”

The 19-year-old utility described the opportunity as a “dream come true”.

“So stoked to get this opportunity and go out and play with the girls,” Entwistle said.

“It genuinely feels like a dream come true to finally be playing an official game at the AFLW level.

“To make my debut in front of my family and friends in Perth makes the occasion even more special.”

Dethlefsen, originally from Railways Football Club in Geraldton, was drafted by Richmond with pick 38 in last year’s AFLW Draft.

The 23-year-old spent three seasons in the WAFLW before that and was part of the Kia WAFLW State Team last season.
