State Talent and Draft"
Primary school students from across the State can enter into the WA Football Commission Writing Competition for a chance to win a writing workshop with children’s author and East Fremantle WAFL player Timothy Bristow, football guernsey, and much more.
The competition is an ideal way for teachers to help motivate reluctant writers and prepare students for the upcoming NAPLAN tests.
The competition proved to be a great success in its opening year last year, which saw hundreds of entries submitted by students in Year 3 and 5.
This year the competition has expanded to include students in Year 3 to 6.
Timothy Bristow has provided an exciting opening paragraph for the students to use to get them started:
We had heard about this player but had never seen them. Destined for the big time! They say, “one of the best kid footballers ever”. The best news: this budding super star was a girl. And she was moving to our school! She walked into the school yard…
AFL School Ambassadors are coordinating the entries for their respective schools.
An independent judging panel will assess the entries using the NAPLAN narrative marking guide.
