A significant funding package for junior football has been approved by the Metro North Regional Development Council.

The RDC Executive Board, led by Chairman Ian Brotherton, approved the initiative which will support community football across the Claremont Football Club, Subiaco Football Club, West Perth Football Club, and Junior Football Districts.

In a first for community football, the Metro North Regional Development Council can now regularly invest in the key strategic area of junior football linked to the RDC Strategic Plan and Investment Strategy.

The RDC’s agenda this year will feature investment towards key areas such including:

  • Coach Education
  • Priority School Engagement
  • Volunteer Recognition
  • Indigenous Grant Initiatives
  • Umpiring Development
  • Club Support Packages
  • RDC Engagement and Events
  • Innovation Projects
  • WAFL Club Partnerships

RDC Chair Ian Brotherton has been strongly supportive of the need to move funds out into the community.

“The Board is very keen to hear of strategic initiatives that will benefit junior football pursuits.

“The time now is for clubs and community football to tell us how they will best benefit, and more broadly, how junior football can be improved through the strategic deployment of these funds,” Brotherton said.

“Being able to provide such a significant funding package is something we, the RDC Executive Board, are extremely excited to do.

“This is the first budget implemented by the Metro North RDC, thanks to the support of the West Australian Football Commission,” he said.

The implementation phase and key community projects will begin next month.
