Optus says YES to WA Football

Optus has committed to supporting football in Western Australia as a new premier partner of the West Australian Football Commission and an official broadcast partner of the West Australian Football League.

The partnership will see Optus launch the ‘Optus Club Hero of the Week’ initiative aimed at rewarding volunteers from grassroots football clubs with unique experiences at Optus Stadium.

The partnership will also include naming rights to the official WAFL App and the 7 Network’s WAFL half time segment.

Optus Director of Sponsorship and Media Shaun Kesby said: “At Optus, sport is in our DNA and we are excited to be investing further in the Western Australian community. We couldn’t be prouder to join the rich history of the WAFL and play a part in its exciting future.”

WAFC CEO Gavin Taylor said that to partner with Optus was an exciting opportunity that would strengthen WA football from grassroots level through WA’s premier State League competition.

“Having a major partner that rewards grassroots volunteers and supports the broadcast of the WAFL competition is terrific for WA football,” Mr Taylor said.

“The WAFC is committed to ensuring that the WAFL remains a high-quality broadcast competition and thanks Optus and the 7 Network for supporting this vision.”

Optus joins WAFL naming rights partner McDonald’s and broadcast partners TAB Touch and Kia as supporters of the WAFL competition.

The 2018 WAFL season commences on Friday, March 30.
