State Talent and Draft
THE WAFL State Team made history by becoming the first ever West Australian senior team to beat Victoria in Melbourne on Saturday, May 27 at North Port Oval.
Not only did WA break a drought that began with the first attempt to win in Melbourne since 1904, but did so emphatically with the eventual 20.14 (134) to 10.11 (71) victory.
The victory followed wins the past four years against the VFL in Northam, NEAFL in Sydney, SANFL at Lathlain Park and Tasmania at Steel Blue Oval, cementing the WAFL’s reputation as the premier State League competition.
