East Perth has backed coach Ross McQueen to break the club’s premiership drought, extending his contract until the end of 2028.

The two-year deal is a show of faith in McQueen, one of the most respected coaches in the Sullivan Logistics WAFL competition.

Under his leadership, McQueen has an impressive 65 per cent win record, and the League side has played in the past two Grand Finals.

McQueen is delighted to continue in the role and is excited about the club’s future.

“I’m proud to extend my time as Senior Coach of East Perth Football Club and look forward to building on what we’ve worked hard to establish over the past few years,” McQueen said.

“I have the privilege of working alongside a terrific group of coaches and support staff, coaching an outstanding group of young men, and experiencing the support of the best members, supporters and volunteers in the game.

“I’d like to thank President Bronte Howson, the Board, James Sansalone and the wider club for their continued support and for the opportunity to keep leading this program.”

Chief Executive James Sansalone has no doubt McQueen is the right fit for the Royals.

“This extension is a reflection of the progress we’re seeing throughout the program and our belief that Ross is the right person to lead us to success into the future,” Sansalone said.

East Perth begins its Sullivan Logistics WAFL campaign against co-tenants Subiaco on Good Friday.
