SWAN Districts is the latest team to take on the undefeated Claremont in the WAFLW for season 2024 when the black-and-whites play host to the Tigers on Saturday as part of Round 9.

It’s the last round of WAFLW action before next week’s State Game where the WAFLW representative team will take on the SANFL at Optus Stadium, and the last chance for players to put their hands up for selection.

The results will also be crucial as the race for the finals heats up and it’s Swan Districts trying to break back into the top four as they face the significant challenge up against the undefeated Claremont on Saturday at Steel Blue Oval.

Swans have now lost their past two games to slip outside the top four of the WAFLW with a 3-4 record ahead of taking on a Tigers team so far having won all seven games of 2024 by an average of 29.7 points.

That means Swan Districts has a big job ahead on Saturday at Steel Blue Oval, but a win could see them back into the top-four depending on other results.

Emerging teenager midfielder Carys D’Addario remains excited by how the Swans team is coming together.

“The whole team this year is really putting in their best efforts and I’m really excited as to what is to come next,” D’Addario said.

“We are a really close bunch this year and there is lots of positivity amongst coaches and players this season which I think has helped our connection on the field and everyone is enjoying themselves playing.

“All my teammates have their own strengths which they contribute to the team so if we keep working hard at it to improve I believe that we could have a really successful season.”

All four Round 9 games take place on Saturday with East Perth playing host to South Fremantle at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.

East Fremantle will look for a fifth straight win also when playing Subiaco at Fremantle Community Bank Oval before Saturday night will feature West Perth playing host to Peel Thunder at Pentanet Stadium.
