Stan Twight Shines Bright in WA Football Facility of the Year Award

Stan Twight Reserve in Rockingham has been named the 2026 winner of the WA Football Facility of the Year Award.

Delivered by Shelford Construction and the City of Rockingham, the Stan Twight Reserve Clubroom Redevelopment has transformed ageing infrastructure into a contemporary, flexible and inclusive community sporting venue.

The project supports Safety Bay Football Club, Rockingham District Masters Football Club and Shoalwater Bay Cricket Club.

The redevelopment delivered a new pavilion and clubroom, gender-equitable changerooms, improved umpire and first-aid facilities, reconfigured playing fields, enhanced floodlighting and expanded parking.

The upgraded reserve provides a more welcoming and accessible environment for players, officials, volunteers and spectators, while allowing multiple sporting activities and functions to operate across the venue.

Steven Rose, Facilities & Government Relations Manager at WA Football, said the project was an outstanding example of the award’s key pillars of Sustainability, Partnerships and Investment.

“Stan Twight Reserve demonstrates what can be achieved when local government and community clubs work together to deliver inclusive, accessible and fit-for-purpose football facilities,” Rose said.

“The redevelopment creates a modern home for football in the Rockingham community and will better support players, officials, volunteers and spectators as participation continues to grow.

“WA Football congratulates the City of Rockingham, Safety Bay Football Club, Rockingham District Masters Football Club, Shoalwater Bay Cricket Club and all project partners on this outstanding achievement.”

The project was shaped through extensive consultation between the City, the reserve’s user clubs, sporting bodies and the wider community. The facility’s flexible design includes four changerooms that can be configured as two larger spaces, equitable umpire amenities and multi-purpose club and community areas.

Stan Twight Reserve will now be WA’s nomination for the National AFL Ken Gannon Community Football Facilities Awards, which recognise best-practice community football facility development across Australia.
