Umpiring"
Six clubs have been recognised from Metro South at an Awards Sundowner staged at the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle on Sunday.
The event celebrated the achievements of 39 clubs throughout the Metro South region, comprising the East Fremantle, Peel Thunder and South Fremantle Districts, with 200 volunteers in attendance, from Roleystone in the hills, to Mandurah in the south, all celebrating the end of the 2023 Go for 2&5 Junior Football Competition.
This year saw the alignment of award categories across the three Regional Development Councils – Metro Central, Metro North and Metro South Conferences, including the introduction of new awards; Administrator of the Year, which acknowledges the exceptional work of club Registrars and the addition of a female and male category for the Coach of the Year and Umpire of the Year.
WA Football Club Development and Volunteer Specialists, Jenné Russell and Zachary Binning said the event was a fitting finish to a successful season.
“It was a terrific event honouring individuals and clubs for their dedication to the game over the past twelve months,” Russell said.
“We were delighted to see more than 200 club and umpiring representatives come together to celebrate the conclusion of the 2023 junior football season,” Binning added.
Karen Wheatland, Metro South Regional Development Council Chair, had high praise for those who give so much of their time to football.
“It was a fantastic celebration of the Metro South’s volunteers, and without each individual and contribution of the clubs the great game of footy would not happen,” she said.
The WAFC thanks the Metro South RDC for their support of the event and congratulates the following administrators, coaches, clubs, umpires, and volunteer award winners.
