The AAMI WA Football Boys Summer Program ended with a practice match at Joondalup on Saturday.
Swan Districts midfielder Leo Steed was a stand-out performer, hitting the scoreboard and winning plenty of the football.
East Fremantle bottom-ager James Artemis, who won the State 16s MVP award last season while being named in the All-Australian team, was also prominent, as was Claremont wingman George Gale who finished last year in a winning EGT WAFL Colts grand final team.
WA Football State Talent Manager Adam Jones was satisfied with the way the players performed.
“It was a great first hit out for the group,” Jones said.

“This time of year, the skills can be a bit scratchy, but they will improve.
“Overall, it was really pleasing because during pre-season we focused tackling, contest work and clean quick hands, so there were some really positive signs in those areas on the day.”
Jones said the practice match would give the squad a taste of what’s to come in 2026.
“The players will leave the program, and they will go back to their WAFL clubs,” he said.
“They will play in the pre-season fixtures and up to Round 3 in the Sullivan Logistics WAFL season before we select the initial intake for the winter squad.”
