Four West Australians have been named in the inaugural Virgin Australia AFL Women’s All Australian team on Tuesday night at the W Awards.

Chelsea Randall (Swan Districts / Adelaide), Emma King (Coastal Titans / Collingwood), Kara Donnellan (Swan Districts / Fremantle) and Sabrina Frederick-Traub (South Fremantle / Brisbane) were among the final 22 players announced and recognised for their individual performances during the inaugural NAB AFL Women’s Competition.

The final team of 22 was selected from a squad of 40 announced last week, which featured nine West Australians including four Fremantle FC players along with five other West Australians drafted by interstate clubs.

The initial 40-player All Australians squad included:
Chelsea Randall (Swan Districts / Adelaide)
Sabrina Frederick-Traub (South Fremantle / Brisbane)
Jess Wuetschner (East Fremantle / Brisbane)
Emma King (Coastal Titans / Collingwood)
Kara Donnellan (Swan Districts / Fremantle)
Ebony Antonio (Swan Districts / Fremantle)
Kirby Bentley (Swan Districts / Fremantle)
Dana Hooker (Coastal Titans / Fremantle)
Emma Swanson (East Fremantle / GWS)

AFL General Manager of Football Operations Simon Lethlean said selection in the inaugural Virgin Australia AFL Women’s All-Australian Team was a significant honour.

“The Virgin Australia AFL Women’s All-Australian Team recognises the best players in each position throughout the inaugural season,” Mr Lethlean said.

“These players have all represented their clubs with distinction and have been integral to the success of NAB AFL Women’s.

“To be named in the team indicates that these players have not only reached a level of excellence but managed to maintain consistency week-in-week out.

“I want to congratulate the entire squad of 40 players, and the final team of 22. Selecting both the squad and team was a difficult process and there will of course be players unlucky not to be included.

“The final team represents the best players of an incredible opening season and will be an achievement long cherished by the players selected.”

The 2017 Virgin Australia AFL Women’s All-Australian Squad was selected by: Simon Lethlean (AFL), Josh Vanderloo (AFL), Jennie Loughnan (AFL), Kevin Sheehan (AFL), Grant Williams (AFL), Peta Searle (St Kilda), Darren Flanigan (AFL Victoria), Kelli Underwood (Fox), Ros Lanigan (Croc Media) and Shelley Ware (Marn Grook Footy Show).
