The West Australian Football Commission congratulates first round 2019 NAB AFL National Draft selections from the West Australian Football League, Luke Jackson, Liam Henry and Mitchell Georgiades.

Luke Jackson, from East Fremantle Football Club, was selected at number 3 by Melbourne. Liam Henry, from Claremont Football Club, was selected at number 9 by Fremantle, and Mitchell Georgiades, from Subiaco Football Club, was selected at number 18 by Port Adelaide.

WAFC Chief Executive Officer Gavin Taylor congratulated each of the players on being drafted as a great reward for their dedication and commitment to football.

“These are all very talented players and I wish them every success as they strive to make their AFL debut in the coming seasons,” he said.

“I would like to thank all of the clubs, coaches, volunteers, family members and friends who have helped make it possible for these players to achieve their dream of being drafted.”

“To see three players selected in the first round of the National Draft is a great result not only for them, but for the West Australian Football League and our Talent Development Pathway, which we continue striving to improve and enhance.”

“To Peter Sumich and all of the WAFC Talent team that have played a part through the WAFL Colts program, State 18s and National Championships, thanks also for your significant time and effort.”

“WA has a rich history of producing exciting and talented players and I look forward to seeing Luke, Liam and Mitchell reach their full potential in the AFL.”
