WA Football"

The WAFC Game Development department welcome the opportunity to take on Year 12 work experience students and trainees to give them a taste of what working in football can offer. Here’s what they had to say about their time with us:
Cimmarron
Some of the stuff I did during my work placement was hand on or office work. It ranged from photocopying papers to umpiring football matches which was very frightening because I’ve never umpired a game before in my life. I felt that it was very helpful with boosting my confidence. Everyone at the Commission was very friendly and joked around a lot which was very comforting for me. Overall I really enjoyed my time here.
My highlight
I enjoyed going down to Murdoch with the team and helping out with the Sport Education Program. I also had the best lunch that day thanks to Sharon.
Luke
“A lot of my time at the Commission was spent helping out in the female football section where I posted match results or entered player registrations on Sporting Pulse. I also did other jobs like mailing and certificates and I even called to order trophies. I have learnt many office skills and we have also been lucky enough to leave the office and go to different environments including Murdoch University. I have gained a lot from this experience and I’ll be sure to take what I’ve learnt and use it in future job roles and employment. Thank You WAFC, you are a fantastic group of people to work with and I have enjoyed working with every single one of you.”
My highlight
On the last round of the AFL season, West Coast vs. Adelaide, Josh (Bowler) was promoting AFL9s and I was lucky enough to go out onto the oval at Paterson’s Stadium at half time and hold a promo sign and was able to watch the remainder of the Eagles game.

A big portion of my time with the WAFC was spent posting game results for the women’s league and youth girls teams. I also posted rego sheets onto player’s profiles.
I helped out a lot with the AFL 9s during the West Coast vs. Adelaide game. I was able to walk onto the field with a promotional sign and soak up the atmosphere from all around me.
I have also had the opportunity to leave the office on a few occasions such as an AFL 9s business meeting and visiting Murdoch University. I have learnt so many new skills whilst on my placement here at Paterson’s, and I have also made lots of new friends
My Highlight
Being able to walk out onto the field during half time and soak up the amazing atmosphere that filled Paterson’s Stadium.
