After 20 highly competitive rounds and 90 matches during the year, the 2022 WAFL Finals Series is finally here.

In one of the most even seasons on record, it took until the final game on the final day of the home and away season to settle the top five with Peel Thunder keeping their Premiership dream alive.

After finishing on top of the ladder, West Perth has earned a week’s break before hosting the Second Semi-Final in a fortnight.

Five teams with five different paths to the 2022 finals, with a new Premiership team to be crowned on October 1 at Leederville Oval.

It all begins on Saturday, September 10 when East Fremantle makes its long-awaited return to September action, hosting Claremont in the Qualifying Final at New Choice Homes Park.

The Sharks and the Tigers have split their two encounters this year.

Claremont defeated East Fremantle by 16 points at the WACA in Round 9, before Bill Monaghan’s charges stunned the Tigers with a 45-point thrashing in Round 19.

On Sunday, it’s Elimination Final action with last year’s Grand Finalists South Fremantle playing Peel Thunder at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

The Bulldogs finished fourth on the table after defeating the Demons in Round 20, while the Thunder must now win four finals in a row to replicate their stunning first Premiership in 2016.

Both teams have enjoyed success against each other this season.

South Fremantle beat Peel by 26 points in Round 5, before the Thunder scored a 14-point victory in the last meeting between the clubs in Round 17.
