SUBIACO made it 17 straight wins and South Fremantle seven in-a-row while East Perth and Claremont recorded near triple-figure thumpings as the battle over fifth position reaches fever pitch.

All four Round 20 WAFL matches took place on Saturday afternoon with Subiaco and South Fremantle continuing their winning ways even though first and second position on the WAFL ladder is secured for both clubs with three weeks of the home and away season remaining.

But it’s lower down in the top five where things are getting really interesting. East Perth moved into fifth with a big win over West Perth while Claremont also kept its finals hopes alive with the thrashing of Perth.

Subiaco began the day despite the absence of a host of key players beating Swan Districts 11.17 (83) to 8.6 (54) at Leederville Oval. It’s a 17th straight win for the Lions while Swans missed the chance to move into third position at the expense of Peel Thunder who had the bye.

South Fremantle won its fourth consecutive derby and seventh game in-a-row this season beating East Fremantle 22.9 (141) to 15.6 (96) at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

Perth continued its on-going trend of starting well but being unable to maintain at Lathlain Park on Saturday with Claremont going on to win 20.13 (133) to 5.4 (34) to remain in the finals race.

Then at HBF Arena, East Perth stormed into fifth position at West Perth’s expense with a 21.13 (139) to 8.7 (55) against their arch rivals.
