PLAYER OF THE WEEK
South Fremantle's Adam Guglielmana has been given all the big jobs by his new coach Todd Curley in 2015 and continues to emerge as perhaps the best small defender in the WAFL after another terrific performance on Bernie Naylor Medal leader Shane Yarran on Saturday.
The Bulldogs might have ended up losing to the Lions by 22 points, but Guglielmana did all he could to help his team over the line up against Yarran who was more often than not isolated on his own one-on-one out of the goal square for the afternoon.
However, Guglielmana stood tall and only had one goal kicked on him for the day with the other coming courtesy of a mistake from a teammate in the final quarter that allowed Yarran to stroll into an open goal.
Guglielmana is also a good user of the ball coming out of the back-line and had 17 possessions on Saturday as he continues his strong form. Saturday was also his 99th WAFL game with South Fremantle and now he prepares to bring up the century against West Perth at HBF Arena.
THE SHINING LIGHTS
Subiaco's 22-point victory over South Fremantle was all the more impressive considering the Lions lost three players to injury before half-time – Darren Rumble (calf), Brett Robinson (foot) and Hayden Kennedy (concussion).
While Subiaco's midfield was still without premiership players Kyal Horsley and Brett Mahoney, and then lost Robinson, they still did well led by Sam Menegola in just his second game of the season with 25 possessions and 10 inside-50 entries.
Scott Hancock also picked up 21 disposals for the Lions, Leigh Kitchin 20 and Chris Phelan 19.
While Shane Yarran was well held by Adam Guglielmana, he still kicked two goals from 15 possessions for the Lions while Kyle Halligan finished with three majors from 20 possessions, and Lachlan Delahunty two goals from 20 disposals, five marks and 15 hit outs.
Subiaco's back-line was outstanding even after losing five-time premiership player Rumble to a calf injury.
Wayde Twomey led the way setting up play out of defence with 27 possessions with Charles Le Fanu having 19 touches and Jordan Lockyer and Aaron Heal keeping Josh Pullman and Paul Mugambwa quiet.
Adam Guglielmana continued his outstanding form as a small defender for South Fremantle and in his 99th WAFL game, did a terrific job keeping Shane Yarran to just two goals and one of those came courtesy of a defensive error from a teammate in the final stages.
Marlion Pickett had a good battle at centre half-back on Clancy Wheeler and provided some good attack for the Bulldogs with his 21 disposals.
Ashton Hams worked tirelessly for the Bulldogs and racked up a game-high 32 possessions while captain Ryan Cook finished with 21 disposals, Steven Verrier 19 and Jarrod Parry 18.
James Sellar worked hard up for South Fremantle and in helping out at times in the ruck finishing with two goals from 16 possessions and nine marks with Haiden Schloithe kicking two goals in his first league game since the Good Friday win over Claremont thanks to an ankle injury.
Brock Higgins did well in the ruck and carried the majority of the load on his own again with Josh Branchi dropped back to the reserves, and he finished with 15 touches, nine marks and 31 hit outs.
Peel Thunder kicked 17 goals for the second straight week and this time it resulted in victory as they kicked seven goals to two in the last quarter at Bendigo Bank Stadium to end up beating East Perth by 22 points to move into third position on the ladder.
Peel again had a host of options in front of goal with Leroy Jetta leading the way with four goals from his 10 kicks while Gerald Ugle also booted three from 16 possessions and Craig Moller provided a good tall target kicking three majors from 11 disposals and eight marks.
Fremantle big men Jonathon Griffin and Zac Clarke both kicked two goals apiece for the Thunder with Griffin finishing with 15 possessions and 24 hit outs, and Clarke 17 disposals, seven marks and 34 hit outs after being dropped by Fremantle for the first time this season.

East Perth co-captain Brendan Lee did all he could to lift his team over the line for a third win on the trot and finished the afternoon with 34 possessions, nine marks, eight inside 50s and a goal.

Swans' defence did well keeping East Fremantle to just 11 goals led by captain Tallan Ames who also had 18 disposals and seven marks. Tom Smirk also returned straight to the league team on return from injury after being absent since Round 6, and had 16 touches and five marks.
Not only was East Fremantle playing under a new coach in Brad Dodd for the first time, but was also without the retired Bradd Dalziell along with George Hampson and Jack Perham in the forward-line, and Andrew Stephen and Sam Read in defence.
The Sharks' midfield had some outstanding performers, though, led by Jamie McNamara who finished with 34 possessions, 12 marks and five inside-50 entries with Liam Anthony also racking up 31 disposals, eight marks and seven inside 50s.

The Morton brothers did all they could to keep Perth in the contest up against their former WAFL club with Jarryd starring in the forward-line kicking seven goals from 12 kicks and six marks, including kicking all four of the Demons' majors in the fourth quarter.
Older brother Mitch also kicked two goals but moved into the midfield for the first significant period this season and did some tremendous work at the clearances and finished the afternoon with 24 disposals, eight marks and five inside-50 entries.

Liam McKenna also picked up 23 touches for the Demons, Jacob Payne 22, Brett Wolfenden 20, Jared Bell 20, Michael Sinclair 20 and Rowan Brookes 17 to go with eight marks as he continues to find the best form of his league career playing largely as an undersized centre half-forward.
