The women’s game is growing, but there’s still work to be done in the coaching community. And it all starts with empowering strong role models in both females and males coaching females. So we’re committed to helping women develop and lead the next generation of footy players. 

Coach Your Way – Foundation Courses (in Person)

The Coach Your Way courses will focus on women new to coaching, to provide them with the skills needed to give them confidence to go out and coach their own teams. There are six key pillars of coaching that the course covers including building your own philosophy and shaping the environment for your players. With a focus on practical application and a community network to allow coaches to work together and best prepare them and their players for game day.

Coach Your Way – Level 2 (in person)

The level 2 coaching accreditation is for anyone who is ready to take the next step in their coaching career. The Level 2 Course is a great opportunity for Youth and Senior Foundation Level Coaches to develop their coaching further. It will include a range of theory and practical components in a one-day face to face program along with further assessments designed to give the coach the best chance to develop their coaching further. 
To be eligible, you just need to hold your foundation/ youth (level 1) coaching accreditation.

This course will feature current and former AFLW level coaches, including Martine Pearman and Pia Faletti.

Coaching Females (open to male and female coaches, coaching or wanting to coach women or girls teams)

Our roadshow series will cover 3 key topics around female athletes and how to best coach and communicate with them. This will be around S&C protocols around injury prevention and management, female health and the menstrual cycle and how to communicate to women. These will be delivered by some industry leaders in their respective fields, to educate coaches to provide our players with the best chance to succeed and foster strong relationships between coaches and their playing groups.

Coach Your Way - Female Coaching Mentor Program 

In 2024 we will be launching a mentor program designed to close the gap between our top level coaches in the AFLW/ WAFLW and those coming through. The aim is to provide education and networking opportunities to allow for continued development and opportunity for emerging female coaches already within the pathway. 

The event launch will be February 14th, if you are interested in being mentored and advancing your coaching journey please apply below.

Coach Your Way – Female Network

All registered female coaches will have the opportunity to partake in a series of networking, masterclass and professional development opportunities. 
To make sure you are invited to the launch event, make sure you are registered for the 2024 season by 14 February 2024
