Country Football WA"
The Deppro WA State 18s finished second on percentage to Victoria Metro following the conclusion of the 2017 NAB AFL National Championships in Melbourne today.
WA defeated Victoria Country by 29 points at Etihad Stadium last Friday June 30 to claim three wins from four games and were in contention to claim the championship going in to today’s final round with the bye, depending on the result of Victoria Metro’s game against the Allies.
Despite Victoria Metro losing to the Allies by three points and finishing level with WA on three wins, they claimed the national title on percentage after defeating WA by 38 points in Round 2.
WA’s three wins came against South Australia, Vic Country and the Allies. Co-captain Aaron Naughton, pictured, from Peel Thunder was named WA’s MVP.
Fellow co-captain and West Perth Football Club Colts captain Oscar Allen won the Larke Medal for best player at the NAB AFL National 18s Championships.
