More than 140 women from seven football clubs took part in the first ever social female football carnival hosted by the West Australian Football Commission on Sunday, June 11.

Women aged 18 years and over from ECU Jets, Cottesloe Hens, Curtin Wesley, Forrestdale, Gosnells, University and West Coast AFC enjoyed the round-robin carnival which has been slightly modified to support participants.

These changes include smaller sized fields, shorter games, no boundary throw-ins, wrap tackle only and music.

The carnival has been developed by the WAFC to provide an entry level competition for women who are wanting to play football in a social and less competitive game environment.

Due to the success of the first carnival two more carnivals will take place.
