Established in 2022, WA Football’s Integrity Unit is committed to protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of children, youth and adults participating in West Australian Football competitions, activities, and programs.

The Integrity Unit has developed a strong local network and primarily operates in partnership with the AFL Integrity Unit, Sport Integrity Australia and Local Authorities.

Key objectives of the unit are to provide support and guidance to staff and all associated stakeholders in conjunction with the development and delivery of player and club education that seeks to ensure all participants are connected to our game. This season has seen over 25 junior community clubs receive a ‘face to face’ visit reaching over 600 players, parents and coaches.

The Unit functions via three key pillars:

Steering Committee

Providing strategic direction, Policy review, Development of recommendations, timelines and evaluation of practices and reporting procedures

Operational Team

Oversees Incident management, Investigates Integrity concerns, Adheres to National Child Safeguarding principles, Conducts confidential reporting practices and provides wellbeing support.

Education Team

Coordinates the development and delivery of player, coach and administrator e-learning and ‘Face to Face’ education.

In season 2025, WA Football’s Integrity Unit has already conducted a significant number of investigations relating to the WA Football landscape.

All game employee`s, volunteers, stakeholders and participants are encouraged to report any improper conduct, activity or criminal behaviour they observe or encounter. Under the newly developed online ‘Incident Report Form’ program.

It is our expectation that all people associated with our game will act with ethical behaviour and demonstrate respect for everyone involved to create a safe, fair, and inclusive WA Football environment.
