More than 100 people attended Patersons Stadium recently as part of the City of Subiaco’s See Subi on Sunday guided walks.
The walks offer the community free tours through Subiaco that allow participants to enjoy its history, heritage and beauty. The intention of the walks is to encourage participation and pleasure in a relaxed, friendly and informative manner.
Community members with past and present connections to the areas visited are invited to provide personal anecdotes that enhance the appreciation of the location explored during each walk.
The tour through Patersons Stadium on Sunday 11 January took participants for a look behind the scenes to discover the important role it has played in community life for more than 100 years. It included a tour of heritage gates, changerooms, corporate areas and the WA Football Hall of Fame.
The West Australian Football Commission places great importance on the history and heritage of the stadium and the WAFC’s Heritage Committee, made up of Commissioners and Football Historians, is actively promoting the importance of the State’s football’s heritage being recognised at the new Perth stadium.
