2014 AFL Melbourne High Performance Coaching Course – September 28-October 3

The AFL is conducting a High Performance (Level 3) Coaching Course at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne from Sunday 28th September to Friday 3th October 2014.

2014 AFL Perth High Performance Coaching Course – December Dates TBC

A second course is planned for Perth in early December (exact dates and venue to be confirmed). Details will be published when available. Expressions of interest can be made for that course at any time and will be considered when formal applications are called for.

The High Performance course will cover the following areas of competency applied to a high performance coaching program in Australian Football.

  • Coaching philosophy
  • Program management
  • Communication strategies
  • Advanced skill development
  • Game plans
  • Game analysis
  • Training programs
  • Sport sciences
  • Individual needs
  • Talent identification
  • Umpiring support
  • AFL policies and regulations
  • Public relations
  • Presentation skills

The target group is coaches who are aspiring to elite/representative coaching. This would include coaches in AFL clubs who do not have AFL HPC accreditation, State League Coaches, TAC Cup and other state equivalents, AFL Academies or equivalent, representative teams. Attendance will be by invitation only, using the current application and selection processes.

The course fee is $1,200 (which does not include travel to and from Melbourne). In certain circumstances subsidies may be available to assist coaches to attend.
