WAFL"
We take a look at the young guns in the mix for an early-season Sullivan Logistics WAFL debut ahead of the opening round this weekend.
We will feature the best-performing debutants across the Sullivan Logistics WAFL and ATCO WAFL Competitions in our AAMI Rookie Series.
Mitch Geier (South Fremantle)
Booted five goals during a pre-season match to put his name in lights for a long-awaited senior debut.
The 20-year-old has played nearly 50 games of reserves and colts but is yet to crack a senior game. Expect that to change this year.
Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (Subiaco)
The 19-year-old was unlucky not to get drafted last year after a strong year at Coates Talent League and National Under-18s levels. Made the move to Subiaco during the off-season and looks a handy recruit up forward.
Tom Phillips (East Fremantle)
Another draft heartbreak story, Phillips is back at East Fremantle after doing his schooling in Melbourne. The talented winger has enjoyed a strong pre-season among the senior group and featured in two of their warm-up games.
Floyd Burmeister (Peel Thunder)
A talented tall with a cool name to match, Burmeister has excited plenty upon his arrival at Peel Thunder. Has some athletic attributes and should catch the eye in his debut WAFL season after crossing from Greater Western Victoria Rebels in the Coates Talent League.
Clancy Dennis (Claremont)
Dennis was close to getting drafted back in 2024 when he was named in the AFL Under-18s All-Australian Team.
He’s a 19-year-old emerging key defender who’s been forced to bide his time in Claremont’s reserves due to their strong key-position stocks, but looks like he’s not far off a long-awaited debut.
Lucas Robinson (South Fremantle)
A big-bodied midfielder from Lake Grace who’s one of WA’s top draft prospects.
Got a taste of senior action in the pre-season, impressing in the midfield in a final-quarter burst.
Leo Steed (Swan Districts)
Another draft prospect who impressed in the seniors during the pre-season, the classy midfielder is expected to be in the mix for early-season action at Swan Districts.
Frazer Rickson (Subiaco)
An emerging tall who showed plenty during his three senior pre-season outings as Subiaco made it three from three.
Great size at 198cm and is still just 19 years old.
Koby LeCras (West Perth)
The son of North Melbourne forward Brent and nephew of West Coast great Mark is making a name for himself at West Perth.
The draft prospect was among the emergencies for the Falcons’ last pre-season hit-out and should be in the mix with a strong start to the EGT WAFL Colts season.
Coach Paul Sanzone showed he wasn’t afraid to blood the kids in the back half of last season, including draftees Jacob Farrow and Sam Swadling, so LeCras is one to watch after spending the past couple of weeks training with the seniors.
Archie Watt (West Coast)
Watt is a new addition to West Coast’s WAFL program and has benefitted from a stint with his club’s AFL team over the summer.
The youngster headed west from Kyabram in regional Victoria after a standout 2025 season in the Goulburn Valley Football League, where he booted 30 goals in 19 games, kicked 30 including a dominant grand final performance in the winning team with 24 disposals, seven inside 50s, six clearances, and five tackles.
He’s featured in a couple of senior pre-season matches and looks a great find for their WAFL program.
Freddy Brayshaw (Perth)
The Sandringham Dragons product and cousin of Fremantle star Andrew Brayshaw has slotted in nicely in his first pre-season at Perth to put his hand up for a senior berth.
Andre Gullini (East Perth)
A running half back who was formerly part of the AAMI WA Football State Talent Program. Been a part of the senior program for a year and played in the reserves flag last season. Coming off a strong pre-season to push his case for a promotion to the top side.
