Cripps to coach WAFLW Demons in 2027

Perth Football Club has announced a new coach for 2027 with Daniel Cripps taking the reins as ATCO WAFLW head coach.

Cripps, the brother of Carlton superstar Patrick Cripps, joins from Trinity-Aquinas, where he coached the Women’s program for the past two seasons, leading the side to an undefeated B Grade premiership in 2025, followed by an A Grade premiership this year.

He also served as head coach of the Perth Football League State Team in 2026, leading the side to victory over the Country State Team.

Cripps replaces Steph Walding who coached the side in 2026 as the Demons fell just short of a maiden WAFLW finals appearance in just their second season.

“We’re excited to have Daniel step into the role and look forward to seeing what he can bring to our WAFLW program in 2027,” Perth Football Club said in their announcement.

Cripps became the second WAFLW coaching appointment this week after Fremantle champion and fellow Northampton product Paul Hasleby was announced as head coach of reigning premiers East Fremantle.
