The West Australian Football Commission (WAFC), West Australian Country Football League (WACFL) and the Great Northern Football League (GNFL) confirm it has investigated an incident from the Railways v Rover game on Saturday 3 September.

This incident caused the safety and care of spectators to be compromised.

The WAFC and WACFL has worked to ensure due sensitivity, justice and proportionate consequences were met.

To ensure integrity and that processes were followed, the WAFC was satisfied that there was a policy breach (player’s code of conduct) of the 2022 WACFL Bylaws.

Full cooperation was given from the player and Rovers Football Club, with the WAFC Community Tribunal hearing the case last night.

Following a comprehensive four (4) hour sitting of the WAFC Community Tribunal, that carefully considered all evidence and factors surrounding the incident, the penalty to be applied is: A suspension of two (2) matches.

While the WAFC and WACFL empathise this is a sensitive, multifaceted issue, we must affirm that violence of any sort is never accepted or tolerated in Western Australian football and the safety of players and spectators must be paramount.

There will be no further comment at this stage.
