The West Australian Football Commission congratulates the four players selected in tonight’s 2021 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft and each of the WAFL clubs that have played a key role in their development.

South Fremantle’s Matthew Parker was selected by Richmond at Pick 10, before Swan Districts’ youngster Will Collins was taken by the West Coast Eagles with Pick 11.

Claremont ruckman Kalin Lane moved to the Brisbane Lions with Pick 14 and West Perth’s Connor West made his way to the West Coast Eagles with Pick 23.

WAFC Executive Manager WAFL & Talent, Scott Baker said each of these players was deserving of their opportunity to be added to an AFL club list and congratulated them on their selection.

“This is great recognition for the hard work and commitment of each of these players and the terrific support they have received from their schools, clubs, coaches and family members throughout their career to date,” he said

“Having our players drafted reinforces the importance of the WAFL competition and the key role that WAFL clubs continue to play in developing stars for the future.”

“To have two players selected in the Draft after participating in the Kia Australia State Game underlines the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with the SANFL and a commitment to continuing State Football.”
