10 Things we Learned: Record breaker, Sharp performance, downward Dogs

We take a look at the biggest moments across the Sullivan Logistics WAFL and ATCO WAFLW competitions.

Record breaker

Jaime Henry broke the all-time ATCO WAFLW disposals record in ladder leader Swan Districts’ massive victory over Peel Thunder in Mandurah on Saturday evening.

The Swan Districts ball magnet racked up a staggering 49 disposals, beating Claremont young gun Juliet Kelly’s 48 from Round 8 last season.

Her incredible stat line also included 13 tackles, seven clearances, seven inside 50s and seven marks.

It comes as no surprise that Henry is leading the WAFLW for disposals with 295 in nine appearances at an averaging of 32.8.

Former Docker Ashley Sharp did the damage up forward with a season-high eight goals.

Sharp performance

Sharp by name, Sharp by nature.

Peel Thunder gun Jeremy Sharp continues to put his name in lights for the Sandover Medal and a recall to the Fremantle side.

The Dockers-listed midfielder put together another best-on-on-ground performance in the Thunder’s easy win over Swan Districts at Lane Group Stadium on Saturday.

He amassed a game-high 42 disposals and two goals, capping off his ridiculous game with an EGT Goal of the Year contender from 55m out on the boundary in the final term.

Fellow midfielder Lachie Tardrew was another standout with 33 disposals and a goal, while young Docker Charlie Nicholls stood tall in captain Jack Sears’ absence up forward with four majors.

Second-gamer Blake Kelly (29 disposals and 10 clearances) was the Black Ducks’ best in a difficult afternoon at the office.

The Thunder have now won five games in a row and are the form team of the competition heading into their bye this weekend.

Downward Dogs

Reigning champs South Fremantle have slumped to their third defeat in a row – and second in a week – going down to East Perth in a one-sided Sullivan Logistics WAFL Grand Final re-match at Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Sunday.

The Royals stormed home with five goals to none in the final term in the 48-point win as former Docker Tom North (31 disposals, six clearances and a goal) and fellow midfielder Angus Scott (34 disposals and six inside 50s) starred in the engine room.

The Bulldogs were missing several key personnel including ruckman Hamish Free (ankle), key back Noah Strom (Europe), midfielder Matthew Parker (suspension) and young guns Roan O’Hehir (calf) and Lucas Robinson (State 18s duties), with their bye this weekend coming as a welcome refresh.

Eagle shock

West Coast caused one of the upsets of the season against the ladder-leading Claremont, prevailing by 10 points in a see-sawing shootout at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday.

The Tigers dropped just their second game of the season but didn’t go down without a fight, kicking seven goals to one in the final term to fall just short of a come-from-behind victory.

Mid-season draftee Oliver Francou took another step towards an AFL debut, starring in the midfield with 26 disposals and 11 clearances, while fellow AFL-listed player Tom Gross continues to bang down the selection door with four goals.

Claremont sharpshooter Jaiden Hunter finished with a game-high seven goals in his return from suspension to keep his team in it.

Parfitt sparks sharpshooting Demons

Former Geelong star Brandan Parfitt inspired Perth’s return to form in a 20-point victory over Subiaco at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday.

The AFL premiership player turned gun Demons recruit produced his best game of the season with 37 disposals, seven inside 50s, five clearances and two goals.

His midfield partner in crime and Sandover Medal winner Charlie Constable was also influential in the hard-fought win, finishing with 29 disposals, five clearances and four inside 50s.

The Demons kicked an accurate 12.3 for the afternoon, chalk and cheese compared to the Lions’ disappointing 7.13.

Bernie Naylor Medal race heats up

Just three goals separate the top-three goalkickers in the WAFL after a couple of big bags from the Bernie Naylor Medal contenders.

Bernie Naylor Medal leader Aaron Clarke kicked a game-high three goals for Perth to take his season tally to 27, two ahead of last season’s winner and West Perth veteran Tyler Keitel.

Claremont sharpshooter Jaiden Hunter returned from a one-game suspension in style, booting a staggering seven majors in his team’s narrow loss to West Coast.

Keitel’s Falcons had the bye.

Tigers victorious in WAFLW Pride clash

Reigning premiers Claremont won a thrilling WAFLW Pride Game against premiership rivals Subiaco at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday.

The Lions kicked three goals to one after half-time but couldn’t reel in Claremont’s lead, falling six point shy.

The Tigers’ win was all the more impressive considering they were missing Claire Ortlepp, Juliet Kelly and Matilda Sargeant.

Sarah Viney (25 disposals, six tackles and five clearances) and two-time Dhara Kerr Medal winner Jayme Harken (21 disposals, five clearances and a goal) did the damage in the midfield, while speedster Ruby Sargent-Wilson was another strong contributor on the outside.

Midfield trio Paige Sheppard, Krstel Petrevski and Lisa Steane all battled hard for the Lions.

Kenh tunes up for champs in style

Smooth-moving East Perth and West Coast Next Generation Academy talent Garrison Kenh tuned up for this weekend’s AFL National Under-18s Championship opener in style.

In his return for the Royals, the hard-running half-back impressed in a narrow loss to South Fremantle in the EGT Colts on Sunday.

The AFL Academy member finished with an equal team-high 22 disposals to go with eight rebounds 50s, providing his usual run and carry from the back half.

WA’s national champs campaign kicks off against South Australia at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday morning.

Former Docker, cross-coder lead the way for Falcons

Former Fremantle forward Sabreena McKinnon and Irish gun Ellee McEvoy were the stars as West Perth caused an upset over East Fremantle at HIF Health Insurance Oval on Friday night.

McKinnon impressed up forward with four goals, while former Gaelic player McEvoy was the instigator in the midfield with 27 disposals, six tackles and four clearances.

It was unexpectedly a one-sided affair between the third-ranked Sharks and fourth-ranked Falcons, with the home side prevailing by 43 points and restricting their opponents to just one goal.

Black Ducks ressies keep getting it done

Swan Districts Reserves are the only undefeated team left in any WAFL or WAFLW competition in 2026, making it eight from eight against fellow finals hopefuls Peel Thunder at Lane Group Stadium on Saturday.

The Black Ducks are sitting pretty atop the reserves ladder with an 8-0 record and whopping percentage of more than 200 per cent.

Saturday’s 30-point win came as gun midfielder Jye Chalcraft made a successful return from a foot issue, playing the second half and hitting the scoreboard.
