We take a look at the biggest moments across the Sullivan Logistics WAFL, ATCO WAFLW and EGT WAFL Colts competitions.

Tigers shaky at the top

Claremont’s position atop the Sullivan Logistics WAFL ladder is on shaky ground after a shock loss to Perth at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday.

The Demons booted six goals to one in the opening term to setup their most impressive victory of the season – a 17-point triumph over the Tigers who fought back in the second half to make a game of it.

Livewire Lochy Paton was sensation up forward for Perth, booting five first-half goals in a dominant display.

Spring-heeled forward Kane Johnston contributed three, while spearhead Aaron Clarke released the shackles with three final-quarter goals after being well held by Jasper Peace.

Midfield duo Brandan Parfitt was the best in the midfield with 27 disposals and nine clearances, with his partner in crime Charlie Constable (25 and four) and classy left-footer Austin Davis (24 and three) also important.

Co-captain Callan England was the Tigers’ best with 29 disposals and 11 clearances, while former skipper Declan Mountford battled hard in a defensive midfield role.

She’s that Harken good!

Two-time Dhara Kerr Medal winner Jayme Harken led Claremont to an easy win over Peel Thunder at Lane Group Stadium on Saturday with a massive midfield performance.

Harken inspired the reigning champs with a dominant 40-disposal game to go with six inside 50s and five tackles.

She had plenty of other contributors including ruck Matlida Husband who tallied 42 hit-outs to go with 14 disposals, while Megan Green, Bec Anderson and Jacinta Valentini did the damage up on the scoreboard with three goals apiece.

Former West Coast and Sydney Swans gun Hayley Bullas enjoyed a successful return with 16 disposals and four inside 50s in her first appearance for the Tigers in 1171 days.

Eagles go back-to-back

West Coast’s WAFL side made it consecutive victories with a come-from-behind triumph over Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval.

It comes after the Eagles produced their biggest win of the season, knocking off ladder leaders Claremont.

Powered by mid-season draft Oliver Francou, who continues to push for AFL selection, and fellow AFL-listed players Harry Scheonberg, Lucca Grego, Fin Macrae and Tyrell Dewar, the Eagles moved to just percentage out of the top five.

West Coast trailed at quarter-time and half-time before coming to life in the second half with Dewar booting four majors and tall forward Jack Williams chipping in with three in a monster game for him which included 23 disposals and eight marks.

Former Big Bash cricketer Clint Hinchliffe was prominent for the Black Ducks with 32 disposals, while ex-Western Bulldog Brad Lynch had four goals.

Dogs get it done for Gomes’ milestone… just

South Fremantle celebrated long-time WAFLW star Ash Gomes’ 150th match with a thrilling with over a fast-finishing West Perth at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday.

Shannyn Pomersbach was the hero in the three-point result, converting her set shot after the siren thanks to a 50m penalty bringing her to just outside the goal square.

It came after the Falcons booted three goals in a row to storm back from 17 points down late in the third quarter and snatch the lead at the 10-minute mark of the final term through impressive Irish recruit Ellee McEvoy.

McEvoy couldn’t have done much more for her team, finishing with a game-high 24 disposals, and four tackles to go with her late goal.

Reigning Bulldogs fairest-and-best winner Tahleah Mulder was brilliant was the victors, leading the way with 23 disposals, eight tackles, five marks, four inside 50s and a goal.

Crazy scenes in Demons’ epic WAFLW win

Perth held on for a stunning four-point WAFLW victory over Subiaco at Sullivan Logistics Stadium after Karry Plummer missed a set shot from the top of the goal square in the final 30 seconds.

There was plenty of confusion in the dying seconds when the umpires gave Plummer a close-range free-kick which would have handed the Lions a one-point win.

Isabella Shannon led the way for the Dees with 26 disposals, 10 marks, five tackles, four inside 50s and a goal, while Amy Trindade (26 disposals) was another big performer.

Dhara Kerr Medal fancy Paige Sheppard had a whopping 38 touches and eight tackles in a losing cause for the Lions, while Courtney Lindgren chipped in with four majors.

Shark Park shootout

Three players finished with five goals apiece in an entertaining shootout between East Fremantle and West Perth at The Good Grocer Park.

The Sharks made it three wins in a row to continue their hot form, overcoming a brave Falcons outfit by 26 points.

Tall forward Liam Robinson took his debut WAFL season tally to 19 majors with an impressive five-goal haul which included a beauty from the pocket in the final term.

His five goals were matched by young teammate Griffin Vladich and reigning Bernie Naylor Medal winner and Falcons veteran Tyler Keitel.

East Fremantle veteran Cameron Eardley was the best player on the ground in his return from suspension, racking up 33 disposals and 11 marks.

The Sharks are now just percentage out of the top five, defying their massive injury list.

Young Tiger’s ruck show

What a performance from Charlie Bedbrook in the EGT WAFL Colts at the weekend.

The Claremont ruck monstered the Demons with a best-on-ground display in his team’s hard-fought 10-point win at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday.

The 196cm, 99kg beast finished with 26 disposals, 24 hit-outs, nine marks, seven clearances and seven inside 50s for the reigning champs.

State 18s squad members – midfielder Noah Braun (21 disposals, three clearances and a goal) and defender Elijah Williams (20 disposals, seven marks, five rebound 50s and a goal) – put their hand up for a gig in WA’s second game of the champs against Vic Metro with important roles for the Tigers.

Finn Gunton (25 disposals and two goals) and Kye Inferrera (25 and one) combined for 50 touches and three majors for the Demons, while livewire Jayden Clarke was also prominent with 21, seven tackles and a goal).

Black Ducks keep winning

Swan Districts are still the team to beat in the WAFLW, getting the job done once again against an improved East Perth at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday.

Young ruck Tamzyn Beros impressed in the absence of Lauren Quaife, tallying 31 hit-outs to go with 10 disposals and six tackles.

Likely Dhara Kerr Medal leader Jaime Henry was also among the best with 21 disposals and 11 tackles.

For the Royals, Lucy Greenwood continued her strong season with 22 disposals and seven tackles to give her team a chance of an upset win before they fell 16 points short.

From ‘JK47’ to a Crow in 16 days

Congratulations to Claremont gun Juliet Kelly who was this week announced as a replacement player for the Adelaide Crows AFLW side.

It came a little over a fortnight after her staggering 47-disposal display in the Tigers’ WAFLW victory over Perth.

The ball magnet and tackling machine has long been on the radar on AFLW clubs after an impressive AFLW National Under-18s Championship last season followed by a premiership for Claremont.

She was also stunningly overlooked for the recent AFLW Pre-Season Draft before finally getting an opportunity to showcase her talents.

Kelly will start pre-season with the Crows immediately in a massive blow for the Tigers’ hopes of another WAFLW flag.

Nate the great

East Fremantle youngster Nate Scott led his team to a massive win over West Perth in the WAFL Colts at The Good Grocer Park on Saturday morning.

Scott did it all, racking up 35 possessions, six clearances, five marks and five inside 50s to go with a goal as the Sharks prevailed by 58 points.

Mullewa product Cassius Wall was the leading goal-kicker in the contest with four, while State 18s squad member Ben Wood chipped in with three.
