PEEL Thunder and East Perth moved clear on top of the WAFL with impressive Round 8 victories while East Fremantle won a thriller, Swan Districts overcame West Perth and West Coast Eagles got back to winning.

The WAFL season resumed with all five games played on Saturday following last week's break for the State game and it proved a fascinating day of results with wins for West Coast, Peel Thunder, East Perth, East Fremantle and Swan Districts.

The action began on Saturday morning at Mineral Resources Park with West Coast scoring its second win of the season beating Claremont 13.10 (88) to 9.13 (67) with Zane Trew racking up 36 touches for the Eagles and Andrew Gaff 34.

Two in-form teams on 5-1 records then locked horns at Lane Group Stadium with Peel Thunder proving too strong to retain top spot with the 12.14 (86) to 6.6 (42) win over South Fremantle with Patrick Voss shining up forward with five goals.

It was then the battle of Sullivan Logistics Stadium co-tenants with East Perth making it four wins in-a-row to be just percentage off top spot with the 12.11 (83) to 8.11 (59) win against Subiaco with Liam Tedesco kicking three goals.

Perth produced a flying finish but just fell short against the reigning premiers with East Fremantle holding out for the 11.11 (77) to 10.13 (73) win at Revo Fitness Stadium with Sandover Medallist Blaine Boekhorst returning by kicking three goals while Sam Stubbs kicked five for the Demons.

The round then wrapped up at Steel Blue Oval with Swan Districts kicking the last two goals in the final five minutes to claim the thrilling 13.9 (87) to 10.14 (74) win over West Perth with Tom Edwards kicking four goals.
