State Talent and DraftSubiaco crowned 2026 Healthway Wellbeing Ladder winners

WA Football congratulates Subiaco Football Club on being crowned the Healthway Wellbeing Ladder winners for 2026.
Subiaco narrowly beat Sullivan Logistics WAFL Grand Finalists Claremont and Premiers Peel Thunder, in second and third place respectively.
It was the Thunder’s second top-three finish in a row after winning last season.
Eight WAFL clubs – Subiaco, Peel, East Perth, South Fremantle, East Fremantle, West Perth, Swan Districts, and Claremont – were involved in the program.
Each club actively participated by hosting Talk to a Mate BBQ’s, assigning internal Wellbeing Coordinators, holding Tackle Your Feelings Workshops and spreading awareness of the message around Think Mental Health Round, amongst other initiatives.
Subiaco’s Commercial, Marketing and Operations Manager, Wil Hickmott, said the club was proud to be recognised for such an important achievement.
“Healthway’s focus on wellbeing aligns closely with our values and the importance we place on the wellbeing of our players, staff and community,” Hickmott said.
“We’re incredibly proud of this achievement and what it says about the culture we’ve worked hard to build across the club, as well as what can be achieved alongside partners who share our goals.”
All eight clubs receive funding from Healthway for their involvement in the partnership, with Subiaco set to receive an additional $5,000 for their outstanding effort.
Healthway’s CEO, Colin Smith, said the Healthway Wellbeing Ladder was an important acknowledgement of the power of sport in promoting good mental wellbeing.
“Football is about more than wins and losses, it’s about working towards a common goal and supporting your teammates and your community,” Mr Smith said.
“Sport is a powerful vehicle for promoting good health and creating environments where people feel connected and able to thrive.
“Congratulations to Subiaco Football Club on topping this year’s Healthway Wellbeing Ladder, and to all eight clubs for their commitment.
“We look forward to continuing our partnership with WA Football and ensuring footballers right across the state can play the game they love with the support they need.”
