2025 proved a season of growth but ultimate frustration for Subiaco.
The Lions had a dominant start to the season where they held top spot from Round 2-12.
The Lions lost just three games during the season, their defeat in the final round to Claremont costing them the minor premiership.
Week one of finals saw Subiaco leading when the final siren sounded, however a Grand Final appearance was stripped from them on a last-second free kick, which sent the game to extra-time.
Ultimately, Subiaco suffered a one-point loss to the Tigers.
The Lions hosted a Preliminary Final against Swan Districts, but three final quarter goals weren’t quite enough to claim a comeback victory and the team went out of the finals in straight sets by a total margin of just three points.
Subiaco’s star midfielders Krstel Petrevski, Lisa Steane and Paige Sheppard were outstanding all season long, with Petrevski winning more of the football than any other player.
Not surprisingly, Petrevski added a second Sarah Michell Medal as Subiaco’s best player, added to her triumph as this year’s Dhara Kerr medal winner as the WAFLW’s best.
The Lions unearthed some young stars along the way with Olivia Wolmarans, Olivia Crane and Layla Quinn-Schofield all having fantastic seasons.
Wolmarans booted 19 goals, outright second in the competition at 17-years-old, while Aimee Schmidt added 16 majors for the year, a career high.
