The AAMI WA Football Girls Summer Program has finished its pre-season with a convincing trial victory over Peel Thunder’s WAFLW side at Lane Group Stadium.
The 18s squad held the Thunder to just two goals, showcasing the work the group had put in over summer.
Coach Kate Orme believes the performance was a great way to head into the season proper.
“The growth and connection of our playing group was evident in the performance,” Orme said.
“We had strong performers across the ground.
“The squad ran out all four quarters and were able to implement several of the concepts we had been working on throughout the summer.”
Orme paid tribute to several players who shone during the match.

“West Perth National Academy athlete Cara Dziegelewski continued her fine summer and worked extremely well with East Fremantle’s Avuya Nomlatyu to give us an advantage in the ruck and up forward,” she said.
“They have pushed each other all summer and their ability to impact around the ground and in the forward line was pleasing.
“Subiaco’s Marley Kelman was a damaging force connecting the midfield with the forward line.
“West Perth’s Lexi Strachan skippered the side and has been impressive with her leadership through the program.”

The players will now return to their WAFLW clubs ahead of round one next week.
“With their strong pre-season they are set to impact the competition, and we will watch their continued progress with excitement,” Orme declared.
“We will have our first intake of players for our winter squad at the end of April ahead of the National Championships.”
