State Talent and Draft"
One of Subiaco’s most important recruits won’t kick a goal or lay a tackle in 2026.
But the return of Jarrad Schofield as League coach has already brought a new level of positivity at the Lions as they attempt to rebuild on the run.
Schofield enjoyed remarkable success in his previous stint in charge, taking the Lions to premiership success in 2014,2015 and 2018.
Returning to the role after seven seasons as an AFL assistant coach with Port Adelaide and the West Coast Eagles, Schofield will again set high standards.
“Subiaco is very optimistic about 2026, and we feel we have brought in the right people to help grow and develop the playing group,” Schofield said.
“The players and coaches are very committed to creating an environment that works hard to be the best version of themselves.
“The players have been fantastic with their attitude and buy in from day one of pre-season.”
Subiaco has been prominent in luring new faces to Sullivan Logistics Stadium during the off-season, including ex AFL players Jack Petruccelle, Jacob Blight and Subiaco premiership player Ben Sokol.

“Yes, we’ve been very active, and all recruiting is driven by me with the support of our Football Manager Tim Marley,” he said.
“I believe it’s very important to bring players into a club.
“They need to know who they will be working with.
“I have a clear vision on what type of player will help our current list, but more importantly they must be of good character.”

Coming off a four-win season, expect Subiaco to be one of the big improvers this season.
“There will be no ceiling on what we can achieve as a team and football club,” Schofield claimed.
“2025 is well and truly behind us as we have new staff, players, game style and a committed group that is hungry for success.”
The Lions will receive an early audit on their progress over summer when they face co-tenants East Perth at Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Good Friday.
“There’s nothing better than challenging yourself against one of the best teams from the previous year and we get that opportunity,” he said.
“East Perth is well coached and has been there on the last day two years in a row and we can’t wait.”
