AAMI WA Football State 18s Girls Summer Squad locked in

The AAMI WA Football State 18s Girls Summer Squad has been selected, featuring WA’s top 2027 and 2028 AFLW Draft prospects.

Reigning HART Sport Rogers Cup champs and ATCO WAFLW grand finallist Swan Districts are the best-represented club with seven players, followed by West Perth with six.

All nine WAFLW clubs are represented, while there are also seven players from the regions, seven First Nations and four Multicultural athletes in the 38-player squad.

“The squad for this summer has some strong athletes with majority of the squad having played at WAFLW level throughout the 2026 season,” Elly Lambkin, WA Football’s State Talent Manager – Female Academies, said.

“Twenty players in the squad are bottom-aged, with five of these players also selected in the 2026 WA State 18s Squad as 16-year-olds.

With each year the professionalism, athleticism and skill of players continues to grow stronger and this cohort of players highlights this trend in WA Football.”

Six players recently featured in the annual AFL Futures clash in Melbourne against the best 2026 AFL Draft prospects across the country.

“The six players that played in the AFL Futures game, all showed their strengths within the game,” Lambkin said.

“Peel Thunder’s Tiama Collard kicked two goals and showcased her footy IQ and ball use, while Charli Fletcher, Hannah Seaborn and Olivia McCay showed their midfield craft.

“Miley Hynes and Alexis Edgley showed the strengths of playing key roles.

“Alexis as a key back spoils well and her pressure was a constant throughout the game and Miley’s connection role as a high half-forward and back showed her ability to use the ball on both sides of her body with composure.”

There are two players with eligible for father-daughter selection – West Perth’s Miley Hynes whose dad David played AFL for both West Coast and Fremantle, while fellow Falcon Trista Smoker’s Craig dad played for Melbourne.

West Perth livewire Vienna Matera also has family connections to West Coast with her uncles, Peter, Phil and Wally, having played for the club.
