A new integrated football program is kicking off in the Subiaco Football District with a ‘Come and Try’ clinic at the Kingsway Junior Football Club on April 23.

Males and females aged between 12 and 15 years with an Intellectual Disability are invited to attend the ‘Come and Try’ football clinic at Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex between 2pm and 3.30pm on Wednesday, April 23.

Parents are encouraged to contact Rohan Blee, Subiaco District Manager at r.blee@subiacofc.com.au or on 0438 994 412 to confirm a place at the event.

Blee said the Lions District was proud to announce the new program in partnership with the WA Football Commission, Department of Sport and Recreation, WA Amateur Football League, Disability Services Commission and Inclusion WA.

“It provides a fantastic opportunity for people with intellectual disabilities to participate in our great game and creates a youth pathway through to the existing Integrated Football League, managed by the WAAFL,” he said.

“As a District, we hope that this program provides a successful model to be replicated across the metropolitan area, providing more opportunities for kids with an intellectual disability to play footy and feel part of the junior football club environment.”

All attendees at the ‘Come and Try’ football clinic are also invited to join the regular ‘Count Me In’ Integrated Youth Football Team at Kingsway Junior Football Club for weekly training sessions. Training is held on Wednesdays at 4pm starting on May 7 and continuing until September.
