West Perth has locked in favourite son and WAFL premiership coach Todd Curley as senior coach for 2027 and beyond.
Curley returns to the Falcons, where he won three flags as a player, with extensive coaching experience including a decade at South Fremantle and two stints at Fremantle.
In his most recent stint at the Dockers, Curley started as opposition strategy coach in 2024 before going into midfield development this year.
“I’m really proud to be appointed the head coach of the West Perth Football Club, a place I have grown up with and have so many great relationships and memories,” Curley told the club website.
“I can’t wait to get started, to get to work with the enthusiastic young group of players that are hungry to learn, and most importantly, improve their footy going forward.”
West Perth president Jimmy Caffieri was excited by Curley’s appointment.
“Todd understands what West Perth means to its people. He shares our pride in the club and our determination to build a successful future,” Caffieri said.
“He brings proven premiership experience and valuable knowledge from the AFL environment.
“We are thrilled to welcome him home and look forward to seeing him bring our players, coaches and supporters together as we enter this next chapter.”
Curley replaces Paul Sanzone who finished up at the end of last season after one-and-a-half years in the role.
There’s been plenty of movement in the WAFL coaching ranks with East Fremantle, Perth and reigning champs Peel Thunder’s head coach positions all vacant after the departures of Bill Monaghan, Mark Stone and Adam Read respectively.
