The inaugural Female KickStart National Championships (9 a side competition) was played in Melbourne recently.

The WA side consisting of 3 girls from regional WA and 9 from Metro WA, called themselves the ‘Cygnets’.

These young Swans did their state proud winning three and losing three and finishing in 4th place on the ladder.

The jumper design was created by Tim and Ingrid Cumming which tells a story of the girls journey, the WA girls wore the black and gold with pride.

Five WA girls were selected to compete in the 2014 Youth Girls Nationals in the All Australian Indigenous Team ‘Flying Boomerangs’; Courtney Hodder (Rockingham JFC), Imahra Cameron (South Fremantle), Kathleen Prosser (Swan Districts), Cassie Davidson (Peel Thunderbirds) and Aneeka Gillespie (Swan Districts)

Courtney Hodder, 13, took out the best player award at the Championships in a tie with a Victorian player, and was also named the Best for WA in a fantastic achievement for such a talented young footballer.
