WA State and AFL Women’s player Renee Forth has been appointed the 2016 WA State Female Football Ambassador.

As the State Female Football Ambassador, Renee will support the WA Football Commission in actively promoting positive messages around female football and engaging with the WA football fraternity through a number of development programs.

“I hope to act as a role model for younger girls coming into football and show them the game can help develop their skills, fitness and ability, and also assist in their personal development away from the game,” Renee said.

The appointment will support the WAFC Female Football Ambassador Program, which was launched last year to assist in the ongoing promotion and awareness of Female Football.

The 28-year-old from Geraldton started playing football in 2011 with the Coastal Titans.

The WA product is a two-time State Women’s Championship player who has also played for the Melbourne Demons and Western Bulldogs in the AFL Women’s Exhibition games.

WA Female Football Coordinator Allana Dickie said Renee is very deserving of the role and has shown true leadership both on and off the field throughout her playing career.

“Renee is always putting her hand up to help out at a number of female football development and engagement programs, which highlights why she has been chosen for this role,” Allana said.

Renee said the role is a huge opportunity that will enable her to give back to the community and help grow the game.

“I look forward to being able to use this opportunity to let young girls know they now have a clear pathway to AFL, from all-girls Auskick through to female senior footy.”
