WA Football congratulates the two Western Australians picked up in today’s inaugural AFL Pre-Season Draft.

East Fremantle midfielder Noa McNaughton was rewarded for her strong start to the ATCO WAFLW season with a spot on Fremantle’s list.

McNaughton, the first West Aussie to go in the draft at pick five, is averaging 20.6 disposals to go with four goals this season.

The 19-year-old, who was part of the AAMI WA Football State Talent Academy in 2023, has taken her game to another level in 2026 to put herself in the sights of Dockers recruiters.

Teenage Swan Districts goalsneak Sienna Gerardi who recently chose to focus on her footy dreams over basketball, was the next to go, heading to West Coast with the sixth overall selection.

The 18-year-old, who has been a part of the WA Football Talent Program for several years, has shown promise at WAFLW level and is rated highly for her skills, pace and x-factor.

“We’re delighted to see two players from the WAFLW realise their dreams in the AFLW Pre-Season Draft,” WA Football’s Head of Female Talent Elly Lambkin said.

“We look forward to watching the next chapter of these talented footballers’ careers after seeing their development through WAFLW ranks and the WA Football Talent Program.

“A special thanks goes out to WAFL clubs, schools, coaches, volunteers, family members and friends who’ve helped make it possible for these players to achieve their goals of making it to the AFLW.

“Michael Walters, Indigenous and Multicultural Relationship Manager in the WA Football Performance Pathways and Development Team, has also done a fantastic job in helping Sienna ahead of the draft.

“WA Football acknowledge the impact these selections may have on the performance of WAFLW Clubs by losing a player at a critical stage of the season.”
