WA Teenagers To Feature On Grand Final Day

Six of WA’s top 2027 AFL Draft prospect will live out a childhood dream when they take part in the Marsh AFL National Futures Boys match at the MCG ahead of the Toyota AFL Grand Final between Fremantle and Brisbane.

The Under-17s squad features West Perth trio Campbell Creyk, Maxim Collins and Rafe Williamson, Perth’s Fynn Tomasini, East Fremantle’s James Artemis and Axel Walsh from East Perth.

Artemis is fresh from a premiership with the Sharks in the EGT Colts Grand Final on Sunday over South Fremantle, tallying 17 disposals, eight inside 50s and four clearances to be among the Mel Whinnen Medal votes.

Highly-rated 203cm talent Walsh was a standout tall playing two League finals for the Royals who appears destined to join AFL expansion side Tasmania Devils.

Creyk impressed in the midfield in Saturday’s annual Young Guns game at The Good Grocer Park and is coming off a strong EGT WAFL Colts campaign, finishing equal-third in the Jack Clarke Medal despite only playing seven home-and-away matches.

There will be a WA flavour among the coaching staff as well with former Perth Colts coach Scott Moore, now at the Devils Under-18s, one of the head coaches and East Fremantle’s premiership-winning coach Sam Mainwaring among the assistant coaches.

The squad features several father-son prospects including Koby Bewick (son of Darren), Percy Burgoyne (son of Shaun), Tevita Rodan (son of David) and Louis Salopek (son of Steven).
